Temporary Kitchen Unit

Back in 2009 TSG collaborated on a bespoke, temporary structure project with one of the UK’s largest healthcare specialists, BUPA.

The Structure Group was approached by BUPA and asked if it was possible to design and install a temporary kitchen unit with a built in cafeteria area. The idea was for this to be built next to one of their main offices and stay in position until the refurbishing works inside were complete. It was because of this that BUPA initially made contact with TSG as this is where the HeavyDeck solution comes in to its own with a rapid installation time – a re-occurring challenge that TSG was tried and tested in when we worked on the temporary Tesco stores.

TSG were happy to help and offered them a full turnkey solution by utilizing TSG’s HeavyDeck. The deck created the level surface for the build, incorporating a 10m x 30m modified A-frame structure with a bespoke cladding system. The cladding system not only offered an excellent thermal value to the build but also allowed the project to visually blend into its surroundings which was very important to the client as the project was to operate on a twelve month hire.

Finally a separate, prefabricated and fully installed and functioning kitchen unit was then contracted in and built within the A-frame structure to create the seamless connection between kitchen and cafeteria space.

TSG has since continued to deliver a range of bespoke, temporary structures for a number of clientele and had also seen huge developments within the product and the company.

TSG delivers a rapid installation time with extremely competitive pricing year in year out allowing the Epsom Downs Racecourse to increase its capacity temporarily and offer all a great day out.

Sainsbury’s TV Studio

The Structure Group is proud to have been involved in such a unique project as the Sainsbury’s / Channel 4 Temporary TV Studio found just off A13 in Beckton.

TSG were approached and ask to design and install a 12.5m x 27.5m multi-storey temporary TV studio. The build had a ground level with a height of 3m that incorporated all the required media suits, production and green rooms and storage. Whereas the 1st floor (with lift access) had a bespoke height of 5m.

TSG’s standard mezzanine system works on a 5m x 5m basis with a height or 3m however, in order to create the height and width required to host all the necessary cameras and lighting The Structure Group utilized its in-house design and manufacturing team to create bespoke 5m legs and 12.5m clear-span beams.

The end product was a huge success and allowed Sainsbury’s / Channel 4 to shoot some great footage however this again didn’t come easy. Due to the busy A13 situated at the back of the structure TSG again went out of their way to develop a walling solution with a dba rating of 65dba+. This then allowed them to film in peace and made for a much better viewing experience.

Princess Yachts

TSG has been working on the Princess Yachts stand at the PSP Southampton Boat Show for the last three years now and had been a brilliant and innovative project with an ultra-high class finish.

Princess Yachts expect the best and we make sure we deliver. This year’s structure was a multi-level building with a footprint of 15m x 15m. The ground floor of the building utilises all of this space however, as you can see in the images the top floor is only a 10m x 15m with a 5m x 10m balcony.

If, you look closer though you will see that due to the nature of TSG’s paneled system they are able to cantilever 2.5m out over the balcony, creating a usable outdoor space no matter what the weather.

The structure was a smaller version of the Goodwood stand and due to the modular nature of TSG’s system was 100% re-usable creating absolutely no waste pre, post of during the event.

TSG’s modular building system works on a 5m x 5m mezzanine grid with a leg height of 3m and can be chopped and change to create all different types of buildings and designs. The show was a great success and TSG were more than proud to be a part of Porsches honored history.

The Structure Group stood out from the rest at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2013.

TSG’s HeavyDeck solution boasts weight loading capacities of up to 20kN/m2, easily allowing the use of the flow-rider surf machine on the Peugeot stand. A variety of different approaches were then taken to develop the final stand, firstly a 600mm counter-sunk deck was supplied with an elevated decking solution above to surround the wave machine as the main attraction.

Off to one side TSG provided a mezzanine build to create a VIP viewing area that looked over the surf machine. To the other side was an open plan display area for vehicles and to the rear, an in-closed changing room and drying facility for wetsuits. We then had an internal staircase designed and built up to the viewing area, with glass and stainless steel handrail in-place to suit Peugeots finish.

The build also included stainless steel handrail surrounding the lower decking area and three lots of steps built to access the stand. Finishing of was crucial and completed to non-other that the highest of standards expected by Peugeot.

In terms of the delivery of the event, over the course of the 4 days it was phenomenally successful. Peugeot were the busiest they had ever been, sold the most cars they ever have at a Goodwood event and were inundated with people coming to view and use the Flow-rider Surf Machine.
